MYTHOS AND THE MUSEAs mentioned in our artists' statement this project began with a rocking chair. You may notice that we have no pictures posted of this chair. We have chosen not to introduce the chair to you via electronic media. It is most captivating and "alive" in person so pictures of it wouldn't be appropriate. At this point we have only displayed "her" twice. Both of these opportunities gave us the chance to gauge people's reactions to the work we'd done-which was, in both cases extremely envigorating! This show coming up in November finally gives us the opportunity to highlight the work we've done on Mythos appropriately. Our new studio and gallery has the right amount of space and adequate professional lighting to feature her. However, the images we have taken from it seem to explode on the webpage! Most of the images you see here are directly taken from the chair- some are the tiniest of images captured by the camera and enlarged, bringing out patterns of color not obvious at first glance with the naked eye. Like life- the joy is in the details! Most of our translations from the chair at this point have been interpretations through paint, photography and photo gravure techniques such as solar plate printing. Because our chair project is intended to evolve, over time we will add more paint to the chair- sometimes that may mean painting over what we've already done. The older images will vanish and yet still be there in the foundation of the paint- left to be a mere memory. Keep checking back as we add more pictures to our inventory.
Thank you, JuliannDru
